This powerful combination addresses a new market for next-generation communications infrastructure equipment, ranging from 3G radio-access gear to core network-switching elements with diverse signaling protocol requirements. According to the Yankee Group, solutions based on standardized modular systems like ATCA offer 30 to 40 percent capital cost savings and will be adopted by all wireless infrastructure vendors within the next 3 years. Telecom Summit: On
June 18th in Chicago, the 2004 China-U.S. Telecommunications Summit
concluded with a strengthened focus on telecom cooperation between the
two countries. The summit brought together officials from the Chinese
Ministry of Information Industry with industry executives to discuss
critical policy issues. U.S. companies were able to meet Chinese policy
officials, purchasing and procurement authorities at both national and
provincial levels, and Chinese industry executives in private as well
