Who is Ulticom?
Ulticom, Inc. is the world's premier provider of signaling software, which enables
telecommunications network equipment and service providers to deploy
Mobility, Location,
Payment,
Switching, and Messaging
services within wireline, wireless and IP networks. Ulticom is publicly
traded on the NASDAQ stock market under the Ticker symbol ULCM.
What is Signalware?
Ulticom's Signalware service-enabling
software lowers costs and accelerates the development and deployment of carrier-grade
services. Used by more than 300 network equipment and service providers in more
than 100 countries, Signalware provides the critical signaling foundation within
communications networks that enables vital network services such as global roaming,
voice and text messaging, prepaid wireless and E911. Incorporating SS7, SIGTRAN,
and SIP protocols, Signalware offers an unparalleled combination of scalability,
global interoperability, fault tolerance, carrier-grade reliability and standards-based
APIs, on a variety of open computing platforms.
Signalware Advantages:
Rapid Time to Market - Signalware's advanced API streamlines the development cycle
enabling service providers to deploy rapidly and realize incremental revenues sooner.
Carrier-grade Reliability - Signalware's fault-resilient operation at the network
and process management levels helps ensure carrier-grade reliability.
High-performance Scalability - Signalware scales to add capacity to support high
transaction applications and increased service usage as needed. Signalware software
handles the most demanding applications with full utilization of all allocated links.
Global Interoperability - Signalware offers a comprehensive array of country and
equipment SS7 signaling variants giving service providers incremental revenue opportunities
as they grow.
Open Standards Portability - Services built on Signalware's open API can be easily
ported to widely used operating systems such as Solaris, Linux, and AIX, thus ultimately
saving customers redevelopment costs.
How does Signalware work in wireless?
In wireless networks, Signalware:
- Is used to develop network elements such as: HLRs, VLRs, AUCs (authentication),
SCPs and Short Message Service Centers (SMSC) and others
- Supports GSM and IS-41 protocols
- Enables carrier services such as: prepaid, E911, global roaming, wireless email,
wireless internet, voice activated dialing, voice and text messaging
How does Signalware work in wireline?
In wireline networks, Signalware:
- Enables Intelligent Network services such as: IN and AIN SCPs, Service Nodes
- Enables carrier services such as: 800 number/Freephone, 911, 112 (Europe), caller
ID and Voice Messaging.
Does Ulticom have an IP offering?
Signalware SIGTRAN uses industry-accepted
standards such as SCTP,
M3UA, and
M2PA to enable voice and data networks to converge, and allows carriers
to offer enhancements such as voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Internet call
waiting.
nSignia®
eSTP (Edge Signaling Transfer Point) brings together Ulticom’s field-proven
signaling technology and open computing systems to compose a powerful IP STP equipped
with enhanced eSTP capabilities. Based on the IETF SIGTRAN standard,
nSignia eSTP cost-effectively bridges SS7and IP signaling networks. With
nSignia eSTP, communication system and service providers
can leverage current network investments in high-demand applications such as wireless
prepaid, text messaging, freephone, global roaming, and voice over IP to seamlessly
migrate towards more efficient, standards-based IP networks.
What is SIGTRAN?
SIGTRAN is a set of signaling transport protocols developed by the IETF. The Signalware implementation includes the base protocols
and gateway interworking functions to support SIGTRAN end points and signaling gateways.
With SIGTRAN, Signalware can serve as a gateway, allowing network environments to
communicate with each other through SS7. All the protocols and global variants available
with Signalware are available enabling services written for SS7 to run over IP.
Does Ulticom sell to end-users?
