Signalware Network-Ready Version 2.7

 

As part of a recent expansion of our Signalware portfolio, Ulticom’s former nSignia product has been rebranded and enhanced under the trusted Signalware® name, and is now one of our Signalware Network-Ready offerings. Network-Ready products* deliver a variety of features and price points suitable for deploying solutions requiring signaling gateway, edge STP, core STP, or load balancing functionality.

 

Ulticom is also pleased to announce our latest release, Signalware Network-Ready Version 2.7. As part of our commitment to customer satisfaction, Ulticom has incorporated multiple customer-requested features into Version 2.7 in order to improve its ease of use. These include improvements to the product’s documentation set and enhancements to its management GUI. It also includes a simplified upgrade process to enable customers to self-install* this release as well as future software upgrades.

 

Version 2.7’s GUI and documentation integrate all new Signalware Network-Ready models, SG, LB, ES, and ES* within the Network-Ready product set. The documentation has been reorganized to effectively serve the needs of a variety of audiences: installers, operators, network designers.

 

Documentation Set

 

The new set of documents for Signalware Network-Ready Version 2.7 consists of the following:

• Start Here Guide – An enhanced table of contents that provides an overview of each manual. Manual names will be live links that open the corresponding manual.
• Network-Ready Technical Overview – Provides sections on introduction, overview, features, functions, target audience, overview of product use cases, and examples.
• Server Installation Manual – Covers the steps required for installation and provisioning process.
• Upgrade Manual– Describes upgrading from one release to another.
• Operator’s ReferenceManual – Describes troubleshooting, diagnostics, alarms, events, SNMP, GUI.
• Release Notes – Include feature information, CRs, open issues.
• Compliance Tables – ANSI, Chinese, ETSI, IETF, ITU, NTT, Telcordia, TTC
• Man Pages – Included in both html and PDF formats.
• Glossary – Terms and acronyms.

 

With the introduction of Version 2.7, Ulticom’s long term OA&M improvement strategy becomes more visible.

• The SNMP agent has been improved with a complete MIB of the Signalware entities, enabling optimal monitoring of the key platform’s parameters.

• The management GUI provides near real-time color coding, along with shapes display, in order to monitor operational status of both logical and physical components and sub components of the platform. All three colors – red, yellow, and green – are displayed in a single table for simplicity.

 

The Non Service Interruptive Upgrade processes have been greatly simplified and secured, enabling customers to self-install ** any part of an upgrade, including Version 2.7 itself. Also supported are Non Service Interruptive Upgrade processes for:

• Board replacement
• Firmware upgrade
• Single hard drive replacement

*Signalware Network-Ready Products:

 

Signalware SG – Signaling Gateway - the foundation of Ulticom’s Network-Ready products is this signaling gateway for use between SS7 and Sigtran networks. Signalware SG gives customers the ability to easily and cost-effectively transition from an SS7-based intelligent network to an IP infrastructure.

 

Signalware CS – Core Signal Transfer Point (STP) - this fully functional, carrier-grade STP supports standard SS7 and Sigtran capabilities. Signalware CS empowers our customers with such network functionality as cross network services, point code emulation and translation, virtual signaling, security zones, network border element functionality, and content-based packet steering and screening. Signalware CS delivers all the benefits of a legacy STP, but with great savings in power consumption, heat dissipation, and required floor space in your data center. It is the green alternative to a legacy STP.

 

Signalware ES – Edge Signal Transfer Point - this network element functions as a combination traditional STP and internet router. Signalware ES enables customers to deploy new, IP-based applications at the edge of their network, thereby avoiding the costs and risks associated with implementing them within the network core. Using Signalware ES customers can gain cross network functionality without the cost and bulkiness of the alternative international signaling gateway.

 

Signalware LB – Advanced Load Balancer - this turnkey IP-SS7 hybrid network element is designed to enable service optimization within the signaling network. Capable of making advanced routing decisions differentiating services, optimizing traffic flow, dynamically distributing load and managing congestion, and controlling access within the network, Signalware LB also provides server farm traffic steering for maximum network performance. Capable of acting as an application-specific router, Signalware LB offers a more intelligent version of the traditional signaling gateway.
